Prescott Memorial Baptist Church offers two different membership options. One may become a "Full" member or an "Affiliate" member. Full Membership Full membership is for persons who seek a primary relationship and commitment with Prescott Memorial Baptist Church.
Full membership is open to persons who: · Have made a personal commitment to God through Jesus Christ; · Have had a Christian Baptism (in some form); · Embrace the Mission and Goals of the church; · Freely elect to unite themselves with the church (profession of faith, transfer of letter, statement) at a worship service or business meeting of the church. Acceptance · By a majority vote of the full members present and voting at a worship service or business meeting Rights and Responsibilities · To be actively involved in. and extend support to, the services, activities, programs and events of the church; · To vote on all matters brought before the congregation; · To serve (if selected) in a church service role/position; · To serve (if elected) as a deacon Termination Full membership shall end upon: · Death, · Request for removal from the member; · Transfer of letter/membership to another church Affiliate Membership Affiliate Membership is for persons who seek an affiliation with Prescott Memorial Baptist Church. Qualifications One who would unite with Prescott as an Affiliate Member (AM) would meet the following criteria: · Embrace the Mission and Goals of the church; · Be a professing Christian; · Live in the vicinity characteristically served by Prescott; · Freely elect to unite with the church at a worship service or business meeting of the church; and · Wish to maintain · A non-Baptist denominational affiliations; or · A membership in an out-of-town Baptist church These policies would be taken to specifically exclude members of local Baptist churches from Affiliate Membership. Upon specific request of a member and approval of the Deacon body and church, an out-of-town resident could retain Affiliate Membership subject to the same policies for termination and continuation. Acceptance By a majority vote of the full and affiliate members present and voting at a worship service or business meeting of the church. Rights and Responsibilities Same as Full Members except as follows: · Cannot be elected as a deacon or to a position that would place him/her on a governing body of the church; · Cannot vote in church-wide elections, but not excluded from serving and voting on committees of the church and ad hoc committees; · Cannot serve as Committee Chair; and · On an annual basis, at the request of the Deacons/Membership Committee, the Affiliate Member will indicate his/her intention to continue as an Affiliate Member. Termination Affiliate Membership shall end for any of the following: · Death; · Request by the member; · Relocation to another vicinity except if the member requests and the church approves continued affiliation. · Recommended by the Deacons/Membership Committee, following appropriate review, based upon inactivity of one year or other disqualifying conditions; or · Change to full membership status.
